- 20 Oct, 2022
If you notice any of the signs below, your vehicle might be on the road to exhaust system problems.
Thankfully, Your Buddy AutoPipeWork can provide exhaust system when it needs it. The exhaust is critical to your vehicle’s emissions and your safety, so don’t ignore the following six signs.
1. Excessively Loud Engine Noise
If your engine is excessively noisy, this is one of the first signs of an exhaust problem. A faulty exhaust manifold gasket will cause an exhaust leak that sounds like hissing or tapping. The sound is especially noticeable after a cold start or when the vehicle is accelerated.
2. A reduction in fuel efficiency
It's typical for your vehicle's fuel efficiency to decrease when your vehicle's power and acceleration decline. Your automobile will have to work more and use more gas to perform as effectively as it does without an exhaust issue. You may think it is pricey to replace or repair your exhaust, but if you don't, you'll end up paying much more for fuel.
3. Reduced Power and Acceleration
Your engine's performance will start to suffer if you have an exhaust issue. When you do accelerate, you won't be able to get the same power since you won't be able to accelerate as well or rapidly. If the exhaust leak isn't fixed, things will only become worse.
4. Dangling Exhaust Pipe
Your exhaust pipe needs to be repaired immediately if it is dangling or dragging on the ground. Even if the pipe doesn't leak, if any part of it breaks, it may begin to hang underneath the car. In addition to endangering you, the dragging could endanger other drivers if it falls off the car.
5. Gas smell
While you're driving, if you start to smell gas inside your car, it may be a sign that your exhaust system needs repair. This is the most frequent reason why exhaust pipes or tubes start to leak: when they get damaged. When this occurs, the gasoline vapours escape through any cracks or crevices. The interior of your car may occasionally contain such area.
These are just a few signs that the exhaust system in your car is broken. Take your car to the dealer for an inspection or replacement if you have any concerns about it or notice any of these symptoms.
6. Burning smell From the Engine Bay
If your gasket fails and starts to leak close to any engine wiring or plastic parts under the hood, the heat from the exhaust gases could cause these pieces to burn. The burning components then release an engine-burning-like burning stench. Although you shouldn't wait until you see smoke before having it looked out, it can also occasionally generate a small quantity of smoke. To avoid endangering yourself or others, have your car checked as soon as you notice any burning or see any smoke.
